Hello and welcome to my Media Studies Podcast. This podcast will help you to understand what a podcast is and how they are made.

The word podcast can be broken down into two words: “POD” which means “Portable & On-Demand” and “CAST” which is short for “broadcast”. This means that podcasts are available for everyone to download, whenever & wherever they want.

Podcasts can usually be subscribed to through the use of “Really Simple Syndication” feeds, or RSS feeds for short. RSS feeds automatically download the latest edition of a podcast to your computer when it’s uploaded to the internet.

Podcasts are very simple and easy to make. All you need is a computer, a microphone, recording & editing software, and an internet connection for uploading it.

Once you have all of this, you can then make your own podcast. If you make a mistake while you are recording it, don’t worry, just stop recording, take a breath and, when you’re ready, start recording from where you made the mistake. You can edit the mistakes out after using the editing software.

You can also use the editing software to add sound effects, change your voice, change the volume, or add a musical bed to make it sound more professional & interesting.
